Our Verdict
The Aqara Camera Hub G350 is three devices in one: a 4K + 2.5K dual-lens indoor camera, a Zigbee smart home hub, and a Thread Border Router. It is the first Matter v1.5-certified camera in the world. Trusted Reviews called it the best indoor camera Aqara has produced. The camera quality is excellent, the hub functionality is genuinely useful, and local AI processing means no cloud dependency. The Matter camera feature is still early and limited to SmartThings, but the device works great through the Aqara app and HomeKit today.
Overview
The Aqara Camera Hub G350 is three devices in one box: a 4K + 2.5K dual-lens indoor camera, a Zigbee smart home hub that supports up to 80 devices, and a Thread Border Router. It's also the world's first Matter v1.5-certified camera, which means it's the first camera that can theoretically stream video to any Matter-compatible platform. Trusted Reviews called it "the best indoor camera Aqara has produced."
It launched March 17, 2026, at a competitive price point. The camera quality alone would make it a solid buy. The hub functionality makes it a bargain. If you're building an Aqara smart home or want a single device that handles cameras, sensors, and switches, the G350 does all of it.
The caveat: the Matter v1.5 camera feature is still early. Right now it only works with Samsung SmartThings, and using it disables the Matter bridge mode. The camera works great through the Aqara app and HomeKit today. The Matter camera part is a preview of the future, not a finished feature.
Key Features
The dual-lens system pairs a 4K (3840 x 2160) wide-angle lens with a 133-degree field of view alongside a 2.5K (2560 x 1440) telephoto lens. Together they give you 9x hybrid zoom. The f/1.6 aperture and 940nm invisible infrared LEDs handle night vision without the red glow that cheaper cameras have. Full 360-degree pan and tilt means no blind spots.
As a hub, the G350 connects up to 80 Zigbee sub-devices (sensors, switches, locks) or 40 Zigbee plus 40 Thread devices simultaneously. It's a Thread Border Router, so it joins your existing Thread mesh. It supports Wi-Fi 6 on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands.
All AI processing runs locally. Face detection, pet detection, people tracking, and sound detection (baby crying, coughing, dog barking) happen on the device. Nothing uploads to a cloud. Derek Seaman's review confirmed face detection is reliable and people tracking works well with the motorized pan/tilt base.
Storage options are flexible: microSD up to 512GB, NAS, Aqara's HomeGuardian cloud service, iCloud via HomeKit Secure Video, or RTSP for local NVR setups. HomeKit Secure Video is capped at 1080p despite the 4K hardware, which is an Apple limitation.
Performance
TechRadar said the G350 is "more than just a camera" and called it "a truly versatile piece of kit." The image quality is sharp during the day, and the night vision is clear in greyscale (no full-color night mode). The 9x hybrid zoom is useful for checking on specific areas of a room from the app.
The hub performance is where the G350 saves you money. Instead of buying a separate Aqara hub and a separate camera, you get both in one device. If you have Aqara door sensors, motion sensors, or smart switches, they all connect through the G350 directly.
The Matter v1.5 camera functionality is limited right now. Trusted Reviews described it as "a preview rather than a finished feature." Initial setup required multiple firmware updates. Only live streaming works through Matter, with no event history or clips. And enabling Matter camera mode disables the Matter bridge functionality, which feels like an odd trade-off. This will improve with firmware updates, but today it works best through the Aqara app or HomeKit.
Build Quality & Design
The G350 is a compact white puck on a motorized base. It looks clean on a shelf or desk. The motorized pan/tilt is smooth and quiet. Build quality is solid Aqara. Multiple reviewers mention it feels well-made for the price.
The design is unobtrusive enough for a living room but functional enough for home security. The invisible IR LEDs mean no visible red glow at night, so it blends in.
Value for Money
A 4K dual-lens camera with pan/tilt plus a Zigbee hub plus a Thread Border Router for this price is hard to beat. Buying those three devices separately would cost two to three times as much. The TP-Link Tapo C225 is cheaper as a standalone camera but has no hub functionality. The Eufy Indoor Cam S350 has comparable dual-lens specs but no smart home hub.
If you're already in the Aqara ecosystem or planning to build one, the G350 is a no-brainer. If you just need a camera and nothing else, cheaper options exist.
Who Should Buy This
Aqara ecosystem users who need a hub and a camera. One device, one power cable, one app.
Smart home builders who want a Thread Border Router and Zigbee hub without buying separate hardware.
HomeKit users who want local 4K recording with iCloud integration (though video is limited to 1080p through HKSV).
Who Should Skip This
If you only want a security camera and don't care about smart home hub features, a Tapo C225 or Eufy S350 costs less.
If Matter v1.5 camera support is the main reason you're interested, wait. The feature works but is too limited right now. Buy it for the camera and hub today, and consider Matter camera support a bonus when it matures.
If you need full-color night vision, the G350 only does greyscale. Some competitors offer full-color night vision with spotlight LEDs.
